Some projects in my mind . . .

I have been thinking about some new projects this day … I have some possibles clients for a Web application project, and I'm thining in develop it with Java and GWT. I need to learn Java, a java programmer is very wel paid here in Brazil (don't know about other countrys).

But I'll develop a site with Ruby on Rails. There isn't to much market for ruby here in Brazil, but it's a cool language. I'm thinking about setting up a real company, to develop web applications, justa like 37signals.

The company is cool, but I can't quit my job. I need some garantees that the company will give money enough  to survive. I'm  still waiting for the payment of my last project. Those bastards don't want to pay me, they're crying like babys …

Ok, it's done ! At least my part of the paper. I'll been publishing it here as soon as I have the other parts. Plans for the rest of the sunday, study calculus (arggg)

Picasa for Linux – 1 minute overview

Picasa for linux is a GREAT software. I'm using it with no major problem, just some crashes (one or two). See below the features and the problems

What is Nice:

• Easy (very easy) to use;
• You can choose a lot of languages (I'm using portuguese right now);
• It's fast (although it runs under wine);
• You can apply nice effects and rotate your picture;
• You can put descriptions for the pictures and organize them the way you want it.

The bad things

• Wine eats your CPU;
• Sometimes it crashes, especialy when it is looking for your pictures;
• I lacks Flickr integration (oh, I forgot: flickr = yahoo).

As you can see, we have more nice things than bad things. I think you should give Picasa for Linux a try.

Google is listening to us

Google has finaly released Picasa for linux.  Picasa is a photo organizer created by google (it's very cool), and was only avaliable for Window. Today google anounced Picasa for Linux, it runs over Wine (performance ??).

As I have hundreds of photos on my computer, I'll install it and write a little review.

OLAP paper. I can’t find references

I can’t find good references for ROLAP (relational OLAP) and HOLAP (hybrid OLAP). I have been researching in books and internet. Nothing good seems to exist, just a few lines the same text.

I need this done util saturday, but I don’t know if I can do it.

Right know I’m reading some documents, but I’m so sleepy that I can’t keep my eyes open. Time to go to bed an restart my research tomorrow.

• Research about OLAP (nothing good yet)
