Suse 10.0 First Impressions

Suse 10.0 is a great Linux Distro. You don't have to waste time configuring device, mount cd's and usb storage, it works great. But the NVIDIA driver still freezing my machine. I tried to install the same drive I have been using with Slamd64 but it freezes the machine too.

No I'm using the nv driver from Xorg. It works great, but  I don't have 3D acelleration anymore. I'll try to install a newer version of Xorg and see if it solves the problem.

And i have installed the 32 bits version of Firefox, becauseI needed flash support. People at Macromedia don't know 64 bits yet.

SUSE 10.0 OpenSource Edition

I have installed the Suse Linux on my computer. I don't want to spend my time configuring my computer again. Easy to install an it detects everything, but one major problem: the OpenSource edition doesn't have mp3 support, so I have to find the packages and install them.

Another problem is the 64 bits nvidia driver, it freezes my computer with XScreensaver and when i try to shutdow the system. I'll try to install the driver from nvidia's site, i hope it solves the problem

 Instalei o Suse Linux em meu computador. Eu não quero mais perder tempo com configurações, quero algo que funcione e pronto. A instalação foi extremamente fácil, e todo o meu hardware foi detectado sem problemas. Claro que algum problema deveria acontecer, o Suse OpenSource Edition não tem suporte a mp3, então é necessário encontrar todos os pacotes para habilitar este suporte.

Um outro problema que ocorre, é que os drivers para minha placa de vídeo GForce, congelam a máquina quando eu tento encerrar a sessão ou o screen saver entra em ação. Eu instalei os drivers diretamente do site da Nvidia, espero que resolva o problema

FISL

I spent my last three day at the FISL 7.0. This year the major talks were bad, people were sleeping at it. But a there were some really good talks, about gnome's new version (I'm switching my machine to Gnome and Suse Linux), XUL (very nice technology) and some others.

The food was terrible and very expensive, and the rooms very small, I hope next the people behind the Fórum changes something.

Google’s new Interface ??

I’ve been busy these weekend, and I didn’t have time to see google. But today I did a search and saw it’s new Interface for the results, yake a look:

Why the sound sux at KDE ??

I really like KDE, it’s software are quite good (K3b, Amarok and others). But I can’t listen to my music with Amarok, Noatun or Juk. They all crash and show me a problema with arts. And the best part is that I don’t know how to solve this. Some times I get no errors, but the music doesn’t play.

Google isn’t help me too much with this problem . Any sugestions ??

I have no time to rest anymore. These project (a sales web application) takes all my free time, and it must be ready until these Saturday (and there are a lot to do).
